NATIONAL DIGITAL LIBRARY (NDL) OF INDIA: A BOON FOR LIFELONG LEARNERS

Sanjay Babu Munavalli

Abstract

The paper introduces the National Digital Library (NDL) of India. It gives a bird's eye view of  the  learning resources NDL contains, subject domains it covers; metadata developed by it, membership, search and retrieval facility, etc. The study finds that NDL has emerged as a boon for people who use non-formal channels for their education.  The study reminds LIS community's responsibility to give  wide publicity to NDL and stresses the need for popularizing its use as a tool to inculcate information skill among the lifelong learners.
