Research on Chattampi Swamikal and His Legacy: A Bibliographical Guide

Nayana Nair, Praseetha Gireesh

Abstract

This document compiles bibliographical details of works by Chattampi Swamikal and studies about his life and teachings that were published between 2010 and 2024. Out of around 2000 sources initially considered, a recent bibliographical study identified 1250 as highly pertinent. After careful scrutiny, a final list of 800 items was compiled, encompassing writings on Swamikal himself, his direct disciples, and those who propagated his teachings. These materials range from books, book chapters, papers, theses, and articles in popular media. While primarily focused on Swamikal and his immediate circle, a few titles addressing the socio-cultural context of his era are also included. Only the earliest and most authentic sources on a given topic related Swamikal were selected where multiple documents covered the same subject. The items are arranged alphabetically as per the name of author. However, specific location information could not be provided due to time limit, which restricted our sources accessible through Chattampi Swami Archive (CSA). Nonetheless, a comprehensive bibliography with abstracts is being prepared by the CSA, which will soon be accessible to researchers.
