ICT-Based Information Resources and Information-Seeking Behaviour among Engineering Students: A Study of BIET and Bundelkhand University

Jyoti Gupta

Abstract

This paper examines the blended information-seeking behaviour and digital resource usage patterns among engineering students with emphasis on ICT-based systems and digital learning resources. The study is based on 215 responses collected from B.Tech. students at of Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology and Bundelkhand University, through structured qualitative and quantitative questionnaires. Findings show that students primarily depend on Internet-based resources for academic and reference needs, while textbooks and faculty notes remain the most frequently used study materials in both print and digital formats. Key challenges include inadequate user training, limited course-oriented e-collections, insufficient access to quality electronic resources, and lack of user-friendly ICT systems. The study highlights the need to strengthen digital infrastructure, expand e-resources, and improve information literacy and ICT-enabled services.
